Bee's Sketchbook
Over the past few months, my family and I have gone on several trips which presented me with long hours needing to be filled. The Midwestern scenery is certainly worth observing, especially once the field crops begin to diversify, but my brain wanted something else to do too. And so these drawings were born! Made "there and back again" on three separate trips, these are series with spontanuity. When drawing, I typically sketch my subject out in pencil and then come back with darker line, working in the details and tones. With these drawings, I drew with pen directly (except for the few drawings entirely in pencil), then returned with a graphite pencil to add tone and shading. It was a challenge, but a fun one, and I apparently liked it, as I couldn't seem to get tired! Please enjoy.

Michigan - July 30 to August 5, 2021
The subject matter of these drawings is all-over-the-place, and most of it happened without much intention on my part. You may notice that I am particularly fond of figure and representational art, but I sometimes get lost in the abstract details too, and patterns tend to appear throughout. The third series (Michigan) contains drawings that span a much longer timeline than the other two series, and interestingly, this series also contains the most closely connected drawings. Six of the ten tell a sustained narrative using Marvel's (and Norse Mythology's) Loki as a protagonist. There are also two drawings included that feature the protagonist from that mysterious Graphic Novel I mention on my gallery page, and a reference to another original story, this one as of yet unmentioned.
